ISO 45001 “Occupational health and safety management systems”
In 2020, SIR receives the new ISO 45001:2018 certification, which is the world’s first International Standard for occupational health and safety (OH&S).
According to the International Labour Organisation more than 7’600 people die every day due to workplace accidents or work-related illnesses, while accidents and illnesses have significant consequences for both employers and the economic system in general (source). ISO 45001 certification was developed in 2018 with the aim of providing a framework to increase safety, reduce workplace risks and enhance health and well-being at work, enabling an organization to proactively improve its OH&S performance.
The prestigious certification comes at the completion of a path developed by SIR in the two years since its acquisition by the Widap Group, aimed at strengthening the skills and business processes and carried out by its CEO Alessandro Decio, with the aim of projecting SIR in a new phase of its growth history. This recognition is a testament to the success and potential of the approach adopted, which integrates responsible investment factors related to environmental, social and governance issues into day-to-day operations.
Environmental protection
It is in our interest to protect the environment from problematic constituents and components from electronics. Our range of products is oriented on the requirements of the RoHS Directives which stipulate that substances harmful to the environment must be minimised. By complying with the REACH regulations, Widap AG meets the requirements for the transparency of supply chains. The registration of chemical substances that are marketed and distributed fall within the purview of REACH.
In order to prevent the import of and trade in of so-called conflict minerals, specifically zinc, tantalum, tungsten and gold, as well as their derivatives in accordance with the Dodd-Franck Act, section 1502, and thus, to prevent exploitation and human rights violations in conflict and high-risk territories, we check our supply chains continuously. For this purpose we have set up an appropriate management system with the aid of which we, in cooperation with our suppliers, identify risky procurement sources and use identified alternatives in accordance with the options open to us.
ISO 14001:2015 “Environmental Management System”
Awareness of environmental problems is growing in most countries and it is believed that current development patterns cannot be sustained in the long term. Governments are increasingly enacting legislation aimed at protecting
the environment, and customers are requiring their suppliers to incorporate best practices and demonstrate compliance with environmental requirements.
SIR Resistor has improved its operations by reducing the adverse impact our activities, processes, products and services have on the environment using a systematic approach embodied in ISO 14001.
